Chapter 2. Using KMemAid

When you first start KMemAid you will see the main window like this:

First open a new or an existing database with the "New" or "Open" menu-entries. When you have opened an existing database, there might be several elements in it you should repeat. How many elements is shown in the statusbar.

To start the repetitions simply chose the "Learn" entry in the toolbar or from the "Memorize" menu. You will see first the question like this:

To see the answer click on the "Flip" button. That will flip the card to show the answer. But before you can flip the card, you have to wait a configurable amout of time. This should encourage you to think harder before you can see the answer (That helps memorizing). When you click on "Flip" the answer will be shown:

Sometimes it can be helpfull for your memory to not show the answer as a whole. Instead you can display a hint. This is done by the button "Hint" and shows something like that:

Another click on that button (which changed its label to "Back") brings back the question. The more often you click on the "Hint" button the more of the answer is shown.

After you flipped the card to see the answer you should give yourself a grade how well you remembered the fact. Be honest: your grade is computed in to the time the fact will presented to you next. There are six buttons labeled from "0" to "5" where "0" is the worst and "5" is the best.

After you have selected a grade the next scheduled fact will be presented to you. When there are no more scheduled facts, KMemAid asks you wether you want to input new facts. If so, the input window opens to select your new facts.
